Welcome to CanSkate!

Skaters progress through 6 levels in CanSkate. A ribbon is awarded for each skill mastered in their level. Once all 3 ribbons are earned, the skater receives a Badge for that level and moves on to the next level of skills.

Skaters are eligible for Intro to STARSkate after completing Badge 4.

STARSkate is Skate Canada's figure skating program. Skater advance at their own pace through a combination of group lessons and private coaching in Skating Skills, Ice Dance, Free Skate, Artistic and Synchronized Skating.

As skaters advance, more time is devoted to private coaching.

Rowan's Law - Concussion Awareness

Rowan’s Law was named for Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player from Ottawa, who died in the spring of 2013 from a condition known as second impact syndrome (swelling of the brain caused by a subsequent injury that occurred before a previous injury healed).

Rowan is believed to have experienced three concussions over six days while playing rugby. She had a concussion but didn’t know her brain needed time to heal. Neither did her parents, teachers or coaches.
