The operations of the Stouffville Skating Club require volunteers to take on critical tasks to support our operations and in delivering programs to our skaters.
Positions
Please consider getting involved with the club in one or more of the following roles:
Coach Liaison
The mainline of communication between the club and the coaches prepares the contracts and manages the coaching staff. Leads the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of coaches.
Event Coordinator
Works with board, coaches and other volunteers to organize events throughout the skating year. This can include skating events like the Winter Showcase or social events like the Santa Claus parade or year-end banquet.
Fundraising Committee
Responsible for running fundraising events in support of club programming and canvassing for sponsors of major events like the Ice Show.
Social Media Coordinator
Ensures a consistent and timely updates to our social media sites to help communicate with members and expand the reach of the club.
Test Chair
Organizes the three Star 6 to Gold Test Days as well as manages the test results for all testing Star 1-gold.
Town Liaison
Represents the town at the yearly Ice Meeting. Manages the Ice permits with the town and supplies the approved invoices to the Treasurer for payment. The mainline of communication with the town.
Program Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator
Organize PA training, schedule, and manage the PA program throughout the year. Manage the need for volunteers throughout the year.
Website Maintainer
Responsible for maintaining the website, adding new content and improving the site overall.
Refundable Volunteer Fee
To encourage sufficient volunteer participation in 2026-2027, the club has needed to implement a volunteer surcharge during program registration. This surcharge will be added once per family to your invoice during registration. It will be refunded in full once you volunteer with club.
Participation in any of the volunteer roles will allow the refund of the volunteer surcharge that was added to your invoice.
For families with skaters in our Senior, Intermediate and Intro to Star program, the volunteer surcharge is $100.00 and will be refunded if you are able to volunteer for at least 8 hours with Club operations, with the Ice Show, or both.
For families with skaters only in our CanSkate or Pre-CanSkate programs, the volunteer surcharge is $50.00 and will be refunded if you are able to volunteer for at least 4 hours with Club operations, with the Ice Show, or both.
